What is a domain name?
A domain name is a unique alpha-numeric name used to identify a particular computer (i.e. Web server or mail server) on the Internet. Domain names allow Internet users to type in a name, such as YourDomainName.com, to identify a numeric address such as 202.71.129.162 The purpose of domain names is to allow ordinary users connected to the Internet to find Web sites and send email to addresses with familiar names such as "mycompany.com" or "DomainsIndia.com" without having to memorize the numerical addresses that actually locate the computers or servers on the Internet.^top

What is a Top Level Domain (TLD)?
A top level domain (TLD) is the suffix that is attached to the end of a domain name. For instance, in the domain name mybrand.com, ".com" is the TLD.
There are two types of top-level domains: global and country code. Global Top Level Domains (gTLD) were created to be used by the Internet public, while country code Top Level Domains (ccTLD) were created to be used by each individual country, as they deem necessary. The global Top Level Domains are as follows:

How long does DomainsIndia.com's registration process take?
DomainsIndia.com's registration process should only take a few minutes to complete. .com, .net and .org domain names registered through DomainsIndia.com may take up to 72 hours, which is considered normal Internet propagation time, until they are accessible, and changes visible in the WHOIS database.

How do I register a domain name with DomainsIndia.com?
NOTE: You have 2 ways to pay for registrations, a valid Credit Card or via Wire Transfer. If you pay with a Credit Card, you can buy up to 100 Domains, and if you pay with Wire Transfer the minimum is 50 Domains.
You will need a Domains address in order to make the domain active or you can use DomainsIndia.com free parking service.
DomainsIndia.com does not use NIC handles.^top

How to Create a Profile and Register a domain.
1. First you have to enter all the contact information for the domain, Registrant, Admin, Tech and Billing contact, as well as the DNS and IP information.
You can have multiple domains in a profile as well as multiple profiles in your account. Most resellers use 1 profile for each one of their clients. It is not necessary to create a profile each time you wish to register a domain.
2. In the big text box, you have to enter the domain(s) you wish to register. You can enter up to 50 domains at a time.
3. If you use the "Just Check" button, you will perform a LIVE WHOIS query to determine if the domain name(s) you wish to register is/are available.
4. Enter the key (password) for the domains, hit the "Register" button and the domains you choose will be immediately registered and a message will inform confirm the status.^top

How do I change the DNS of a domain?
You have 2 options to make DNS changes:
1. If you want to change the DNS information for all the domains in a profile, you have to use the option "Ask for a  DNS change".
2. If you want to change the DNS information for only 1 domain, you have to use the option "Modify a Domain", which is located in the profiles menu. Enter the domain you wish to change, the key (password), and in the new window, transfer the domain to a "New Profile".^top

What is the Auto Renew option in the registration window?

This is a very useful option that enables domains to be renewed automatically when they expire.
If you have available Domains at the expiration, the marked domain(s) will be renewed automatically.
If you do not have any available Domains, our system will check 7 days before the domain expires and send an e-mail to the account owner to purchase more Domains^top

I sold a domain, how can my customer change the DNS, registrant and contact info himself?
When you sell a domain, you can now move the domain to a new account, in order to do that you have to:
1. Log into your account at: http://www.DomainsIndia.com/login/
2. Select a profile.
3. Use the option "Listing Domains".
4. Select the domain you wish to modify.
5. Enter the key.
6. In the new window choose, "Transfer to new account".
7. Enter a new account name (that will be the username for the buyer"
8. Click on "Create new account".
The new account will be fully functional and the customer will be able to login to his account, modify the domain as he wants, buy more Domains is and even delete the domain.^top^top

The domain name I want has expired according to the WHOIS record. Why can't I register that name?
The WHOIS record "expiration date" simply indicates the current contract period for a domain name registration. Contract periods vary from one to ten years. If you fail to pay your registration fee, your domain name registration is subject to deactivation and eventual deletion from our systems under normal billing procedures and technology requirements. Many factors may cause the "expiration date" to vary from the eventual date of deletion.

I have many domains registered with other registrars, how do I transfer them to DomainsIndia.com?
1. Select the profile where you want the transferred domains to be stored.
2. Use the "Initiate a domain transfer" option.
3. In the big text box, enter the domain(s) you wish to transfer.
4. Enter a key (password) for the domain(s).
5. Hit the "send" button.
An e-mail requesting the transfer will be sent to the admin contact of the domain.
The transfer process takes about 7 working days from the day the admin replies to that e-mail. You have to be legally authorized to request the transfer.^top

I just registered a domain with DomainsIndia.com and if I check the availabilty of the domain in any WHOIS, the domain shows up as available. Why is that?
The domain is registered instantly, but since the WHOIS database (the global domain databse) takes about 24/72 Hs to get updated worldwide. You will have to allow that time period for the domain to show up as registered by you.^top

Is the transfer from other registrars to DomainsIndia.com FREE?
Yes, the trasfer itself is FREE, you are only charged 1 Domains (Domain Registration Year) for the added year to the expiration date. For example: If you have a domain at Network Solutions that expires on March/2003, and you transfer it to DomainsIndia.com, you will be charged 1 Domains and the domain will expire on March/2004.^top^top

For your convenience, you can register domains via e-mail, with a few simple steps. If you wish to do this, you must contact the support staff, in order to obtain the e-mail registration template, and to have the account enabled for e-mail registrations
